Yorkshire-based surface designer Bethan Janine has brought her creative talents to another fabulous fabric collection for Dashwood Studio. Flock features seven individual fabric designs and a panel print, and, like much of Bethan’s work, it takes its creative cues from nature. ‘I was inspired by evenings in the countryside,’ the designer told Pretty Patches, ‘and birds gathering in a beautiful garden at night surrounded by brightly coloured flowers and plants.
'The geometric patterns were inspired by birds’ plumage.’ Bethan’s second collection for Dashwood to be released in 2017 (look out for her gorgeous Nordic-themed Norrland Christmas designs too) she explains that she finds the process of fabric designing hugely enjoyable. ‘It was really fun,’ she says of her work on Flock. ‘I love drawing birds and adding bright, fun details to their wings.’
The versatile designs, which include feature fabrics with a stylish cut-out feel and playful graphic prints, can be used across a variety of home projects, contemporary quilts and clothing. ‘I’d love to see quilts, dresses and lampshades made from the collection,’ says Bethan.
Flock arrives in stores this month (email firstname.lastname@example.org for stockists) but thanks to the lovely folk at Dashwood Studio, we’ve got eight fabric bundles to give away, each containing a fat quarter of every print in the collection.
