Christmas is almost here and we’re feeling festive in the Hollocks household! The halls have been decked, the handmade presents are underway, and the annual battle over garish tree ornaments (my son) versus super-stylish decorations (me) has taken place (he wins every year).
But in spite of all the planning and organisation that takes place in the months running up to Christmas, there are always gifts I’ve overlooked and last-minute creative makes I feel the urge to rustle up before that all-important drinks party with the neighbours, or the impromptu get-together with relatives. Thankfully, our Stash Happiness section this issue is a winter wonderland of ideas for every festive emergency, from Debbie von Grabler-Crozier’s gorgeous felt gift bags to Jemima Schlee’s sweet holly leaf napkin rings and Sally Southern’s quick and easy fabric-covered photo frames.
There are bigger makes for those with a little more time too, including
Tone Finnanger’s clever reverse appliqué cushion, which features a
gorgeous folklore design that’s so on-trend, and Linda Pumphrey’s
dazzling Simply Touching Stars quit, perfect for cosying up under on
We’ve also included inspiration to add a little creative interest to
winter walks from textile expert Abigail Booth, who shares her tips on
sourcing fabric dyes in nature, and takes us through a step-by-step
guide to dyeing and stitching your own foraging bag.
Wishing you a very merry, crafty Christmas!
